Course Description
In this 67-hour course,
the students will be introduced to the job requirements of a Company
Officer for Fire and Emergency Services.
Topics include governmental theory, human resource
management, administrative functions, policy/procedures, fire
prevention, risk management, information management, firefighter near-miss case
studies, incident operations, and post-incident analysis.
***Upon registering, students MUST login to their GPSTC Access account and verify that their Student Profile emails are up to date. It is additionally recommended that students indicate the preference that emails are distributed to either a "Personal" email, or "Both" (Work and Personal), as many larger departments have firewalls that will block emails from GPSTC. Indicating either "Personal" email, or "Both" will ensure that class correspondence emails are received.***
Prerequisites
Selection preference will be afforded to students that are Company Officers, or those close to being promoted. Pro Board Certification Note: To obtain National
Professional Qualifications Fire Officer II certification, the student must have
completed the requirements for Fire Officer I, which includes National
Professional Qualifications Instructor I. The Fire Officer
II National Professional Qualifications test is the final
test for this course.
Students must complete the DiSC Assessment in GPSTC's online learning platform no later than midnight on Thursday prior to the start of the course. Any students who have not completed this required prerequisite by the stated deadline will be removed from the student roster, and will not be permitted to attend the training. After being Accepted into the class, student will receive an email with instructions on how to access the online portal.
