Single Officer Response, Knife Attack Defense (SORKAD)

Course Hours: 16.0 Hours

Course Description

This course is designed for School Resource Officers and/or any law enforcement officer who is likely to encounter threats involving edged weapons. During this course, officers will be taught best practices and address the legal aspects of utilizing a knife in response to an active threat, as well as defending themselves from a knife attack. Officers will develop skills in the use of edged weapons, as well as realistic training for responding to a knife assault. 

Prerequisites

Students must be POST certified and sworn law enforcement.

Who Should Attend

This course will be most beneficial to School Resource Officers, but is also applicable to any law enforcement agencies that do not have dedicated SROs. Officers currently assigned to an SRO position will receive priority registration.

Special Notes

Students should wear comfortable/training-appropriate clothing and eye protection.  It is also recommended that they bring a refillable water container.
