Performance Rifle (Gateway Defense)

Course Description

This 2-day rifle course, delivered at GPSTC by Gateway Defense, is designed for the shooter who is ready to take their performance to the next level. It will build a solid, principle-based foundation on day 1, and then apply those fundamentals to more complex shooting from various shooting positions on day 2.   Some of the topics covered will include: the fundamentals of grip/rifle mount, sight management, and trigger control, visual confirmation levels, target transitions, various movements, practical accuracy from a variety of distances, and many others.

Training Outcomes

Officers who successfully complete the course will have a strong foundation in performance shooting a semi-automatic patrol rifle.

Prerequisites

Students must be certified and sworn law enforcement officers in order to attend this training.

Who Should Attend

While beginner shooters will benefit from this class, this SHOULD NOT be your first training class with a patrol rifle. Students will be required to have comprehensive understanding of gun safety, be able to work out of a holster safely, and be able to hit an A-zone or 8" circle on demand from 10 yards with no time limit.

In order to attend, student must arrive with their department-issued ID, a semi-automatic rifle with a sling, at least 3-4 rifle magazines, 2 rifle mag holders, a sturdy gun belt (concealed carry belt or battle belt/competition belt style), 1000 rounds of ammunition (500 per day), eye and ear protection (electronic hearing protection required), tools to service their optics, lights, holsters, guns, etc., spare batteries for optics and lights, and rain gear.
