Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.)

Course Description

This course is designed to provide the law enforcement officer with the skills and knowledge necessary to properly perform the Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) while enabling officers to maintain officer safety aspects and the safety of other motorists not involved in a vehicle pursuit.

Prerequisites

Students who do not meet all prerequisite requirements below by the deadline stated will be removed from the course roster. No exceptions will be made.


In order to attend this course, the student must first successfully complete of one of the following courses: BLETC EVOC, Basic EVOC, Advanced Law Enforcement EVOC, or Law Enforcement Emergency Vehicle Operations Course Level 1 (LEEVOC 1). Student officers must be current/active law enforcement officials and must possess a valid driver's license. 

Also, after acceptance into the course, students will be provided with a link to successfully complete the "Legal Considerations with P.I.T." and "Precision Immobilization Technique" online training prior to noon on the Friday prior to the start of the course.  

Who Should Attend

Students must be certified law enforcement officers employed in an enforcement capacity by an agency that currently utilizes the P.I.T. maneuver to terminate vehicle pursuits.
