Advanced Patrol Rifle

Course Description

This intensive course is designed to elevate officers' operational proficiency with the patrol rifle under dynamic, real-world conditions. Moving beyond foundational marksmanship, students will master mechanical offset, zero confirmation across varying distances, and precise group control. The curriculum emphasizes combat-proven tactics, including support-side engagements, advanced weapon transitions, rapid malfunction clearance, and effective utilization of cover. Through timed drills, threat identification protocols, and stress inoculation scenarios, participants will refine decision-making, speed, and accuracy in high-threat environments.

Training Outcomes


Prerequisites

(1) Students must be certified and sworn law enforcement officers.


(2) Successful completion of a Basic Patrol Rifle course (equivalent to the Patrol Rifle GPSTC 32-hour course, or the GPSTC 16-hour Patrol Rifle Fundamentals course), or be a POST-certified firearms instructor.

Who Should Attend

Officers seeking to improve accuracy and speed for longer-distance shooting with a patrol rifle would benefit from this training.

Special Notes

Students must bring an agency-issued patrol rifle with a sling, two rifle magazines, a rifle magazine pouch, a duty belt, a holster with retention, a handgun, 3 handgun magazines, a magazine pouch, hearing protection, eye protection, and a hat with a brim.  .556 caliber ammunition will be provided for training.


Students must arrive at the range with rifle sights and optics zeroed for 50 yards.
