Public Safety ATV/UTV Rider

Course Description
ATV's and UTV's are becoming more popular in public safety due to the maneuverability and versatility of operation. This eight (8) hour in-service operator's course provides novice riders the opportunity to learn the proper inspection, operation, and capabilities of ATV's and UTV's for public safety functions. This course also provides instruction on the skills necessary to to safely and effectively operate an ATV/UTV for public safety patrols.
Prerequisites
Students should have a basic knowledge of controls and operation of an ATV/UTV prior to attending this course. The purpose of this course is to focus on the use of an ATV/UTV in a public safety capacity.
Who Should Attend
Any discipline of public safety personnel who may use an ATV/UTV, to include modern side-by-side vehicles during the course of their assigned duties and responsibilities, would benefit from this taining.
Special Notes
Public safety personnel/agencies must provide a properly functioning ATV/UTV and safety equipment, including helmet, goggles (unless the helmet has a windscreen), long pants, and over the ankle boots. Rain gear, gloves, and long sleeves may be needed, depending on weather. A personal hydration device (camelback, etc.) is recommended. No live ammunition or weapons will be allowed during training exercises.
