Single Officer Response, Shield Tactics (SORST)
Course Hours: 24.0 Hours
Course Description
This course is designed for School Resource Officers and/or any law enforcement officer who is likely to be first on scene to an active threat. During this course, officers will be taught best practices on utilizing the shield while responding to an active threat. Officers will develop skills on single officer structure clearing techniques, threat engagements, and movement drills while operating the shield.
Prerequisites
Students must be POST certified and sworn law enforcement. Before attending this course, officers must complete the Single Officer Response, Active Threat (SORAT) course.
Who Should Attend
This course will be most beneficial to School Resource Officers and/or any law enforcement agencies that do not have dedicated SROs. Officers currently assigned to an SRO position will receive priority registration.
Special Notes
Officers are expected to bring their full duty belt, flashlight, hearing and eye protection, gloves, long sleeve shirts or jacket, note taking material, civilian attire for role play, attire for inclement weather, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, and a refillable water container.
