Response to Resistance: Realistic Tactical Communication

Course Hours: 8.0 Hours

Course Description

This course will familiarize students with key concepts of de-escalation and communication skills to improve the likelihood of successful verbal de-escalation.  This course consists of lecture and presentation that provides a law enforcement officer with the understanding and importance of realistic tactical communication skills, based on a law enforcement response in situations where the subject may be experiencing psychosis, mental disorders or developmental disabilities and drug and alcohol impairment.

Prerequisites

Students must be employed and sworn by a local, state, or federal agency.

This training is designed for law enforcement officers who are in direct contact with the public.
