Single Officer Response to an Active Threat

Course Description

This advanced course is for officers assigned to a school and/or campus in the state of Georgia. It is taught by instructors in the field, or with experience, in responding to active threats and medical incidents on school campuses. This course will equip officers with the baseline knowledge, skills, and techniques to respond to active threats and medical incidents in order to protect students and school grounds. Officers will learn how to utilize the SET breaching kit, the ZOLL Comprehensive Medical Kit, and the Individual First Aid Kit.  

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, officers must complete Basic School Resource Officer course.

Who Should Attend

This course will be most beneficial to School Resource Officers and/or any law enforcement agencies that do not have dedicated SROs. Officers currently assigned to an SRO position will receive priority registration.

Special Notes

Officers are expected to bring their full duty belt, flashlight, hearing and eye protection, gloves, long sleeve shirts or jacket, note taking material, civilian attire for role play, attire for inclement weather, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, and a refillable water container.
