Shooting Incident Reconstruction

Course Description

This course is designed to teach law enforcement investigators shooting incident reconstruction methodologies and evaluate position and evidentiary relationships between the shooter, scene, victim, and other items of physical evidence.

Training Outcomes

After the successful completion of the Shooting Incident Reconstruction Course, students will be capable of conducting a detailed investigation into a shooting incident, documenting and collecting the physical evidence located therein, interpreting the physical evidence to determine the sequence of events, and evaluate positions and evidentiary relationships between the shooter, scene, victim, and other items of evidence.

Prerequisites

Students attending this course of instruction must have completed the 40 hour course, or equivalent, in Crime Scene Investigations and the 40 hour course, or equivalent, in Basic Photography and Digital Imaging to attend this course of instruction. A letter from the student's agency head or supervisor stating the student is responsible for investigating shooting incidents is also required.
