Introduction to Next Generation 911
Course Hours: 2.0 Hours
Course Description
Emergency communications is the backbone of any successful public safety response; however, this critical service depends primarily on legacy technology first developed in the late 1960's. Next Generation 911 will harness today's technology to provide the public and emergency responders more robust, secure, and interoperable and interconnected ways to communicate, and position 911 to more quickly adapt to other emerging technologies.
NG911 offers the ability for emergency communications centers to receive and seamlessly share information, resources, and even streaming video with emergency response partners. This course will review current technologies and discuss emerging technologies and the operational impacts of NG911. Topics include a comparison of current and NG911, benefits and limitations to Text-to-911, and the role of FirstNet and how it relates to NG911.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for public safety telecommunicators; however, other members of the public safety profession may find the course helpful.
