Cybersecurity: Protecting 911 Inside and Out
Course Hours: 2.0 Hours
Course Description
As Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs) become more interconnected and even more reliant on internet-based technologies, some of the greatest threats to effective public safety are attacks launched in cyber-space. ECCs and other public safety agencies have been successfully targeted by Telephony Denial of Service attacks (known as TDoS) and Distributed Denial of Service attacks (knows as DDoS) over the last several years. As ECCs transition from legacy to Next Generation 911 technology, the threat will become even more imminent.
This course will present information to telecommunicators about basic cybersecurity hygiene, insider threats, outsider threats, recognizing types of threats that are in progress, and cybersecurity best practices.
Who Should Attend
This course was designed for public safety telecommunicators; however, other emergency communications professionals may also find the information helpful.
