Cybersecurity: Protecting 911 Inside and Out
Course Hours: 2.0 Hours
Course Description
As Emergency Communications Centers (ECCs) become more interconnected and increasingly reliant on internet-based technologies, cyberattacks pose some of the greatest threats to effective public safety. ECCs and other public safety agencies have been successfully targeted by Telephony Denial of Service attacks (known as TDoS) and Distributed Denial of Service attacks (known as DDoS) over the last several years. As ECCs transition from legacy to Next Generation 911 technology, the threat will become even more imminent.
This course will provide telecommunicators with information on basic cybersecurity hygiene, insider and outsider threats, how to recognize ongoing threats, and cybersecurity best practices.
Who Should Attend
This course was designed for public safety telecommunicators; however, other emergency communications professionals may also find the information helpful.
