P.I.T. Refresher Course

Course Description

This is an In-Service course designed to provide refresher training to law enforcement officers who have successfully completed a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) course.   This course will provide an update and overview on current necessary skills and knowledge to properly perform the Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.).

Prerequisites

Successful completion in the course instruction of the Precision Immobilization Technique. Officers wishing to attend must have attended and successfully completed a Precision Immobilization Techniques course.  Proof of training must be provided prior to the start date in order to attend and be accepted.  Students must provide at least one the following documents: 

(1) A copy of a training certificate for the Precision Immobilization Technique, 
(2) Valid POST transcript indicating successful completion of a Precision Immobilization Techniques course, or 
(3) Signed letter from the agency head or designee indicating that the student registering has successfully completed training in the Precision Immobilization Technique. 

Failure to have proof of successful completion indicated of a Precision Immobilization Techniques course will result in dismissal or removal from registration of the course.  Proof of completion of the information indicated can be emailed to the course coordinator prior to the first day of class.  

Students selected must also provide a letter from their agency confirming the agency has a current policy allowing the use of the P.I.T. maneuver.  The letter is to be signed by the agency head or designee.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for law enforcement officers who have been successfully trained in the Precision Immobilization Technique and are employed by an agency that currently utilizes the P.I.T. maneuver to terminate vehicle pursuits.

Special Notes

This is not a certification course on the Precision Immobilization Technique.  It is a refresher and In-Service class for training on techniques that have been previously received.
