Shotgun Fundamentals

Course Description
This course is designed for the officer who has little to no experience with a shotgun beyond academy familiarization. Students will learn and practice the fundamentals of loading, unloading, and use of sights for the police shotgun.
Training Outcomes
With the fundamentals taught during this course, officers will gain a better understanding of how to safely and effectively use a shotgun to deliver accurate rounds on target and improve qualification scores on the Georgia P.O.S.T. shotgun course.
Prerequisites
Students must be POST certified and and sworn law enforcement officers.
Who Should Attend
This course should be attended by any officer who is not proficient in the use and deployment of a police shotgun. It is highly recommended that officers attend this class prior to a shotgun skills class.
Special Notes
Students should bring a 12 gauge pump or semi-automatic shotgun, hearing protection, eye protection, and a hat with a brim. Ammunition will be provided in 12 gauge only.
