Ballistic Shield Operator

Course Hours: 24.0 Hours

Course Description

This course is designed for officers who have been recently assigned a ballistic shield, or who have one available during the course of their duties. During this course of instruction, the officer will become familiar with the ballistic shield, along with its capabilities and its shortcomings. Officers will develop skills on building entries and room clearing techniques with the ballistic shield, fighting from behind the ballistic shield with a handgun, team movement exercises, and force on force practical exercises using the ballistic shield. 

Training Outcomes

The goal of this course is to provide the student with the knowledge and ability to effectively utilize a ballistic shield.

Prerequisites

Students must be Certified and  Sworn Law Enforcement. Officers must provide a ballistic shield for the class.

Who Should Attend

This course should be attended by law enforcement officers who have been assigned a ballistic shield, or have one available during the course of their duties.

Special Notes

Officers should bring a ballistic shield with them for the class, and all appropriate call out or duty gear, to include knee and elbow pads.
