SWAT - Intermediate

Course Description

Designed for those officers who have completed SWAT - Basic training, SWAT - Intermediate training has been developed to further enhance the operator's skill set. In an effort to further bolster the capabilities and confidence of the operator, they will receive training in specialized areas such as high risk warrant service, officer and civilian rescue, the use of vehicles in tactical situations, and development of after action reports.

Prerequisites

Students must be a certified or sworn law enforcement officer who has completed SWAT - Basic or its equivalent. On the first day of class, officers will be required to produce a letter from their agency confirming their assignment to a departmental S.R.T., S.W.A.T., or Tactical team.  Additionally, officers will be required to pass the Georgia Semi-Automatic Rifle Qualification Course with a minimum score of 90% on the first morning. The test will be scored using 10s and 5s.

Special Notes

The training is physical; therefore, those attending should be in good physical condition. Officers should bring with them all clothing and equipment they would have with them during a SWAT operation. This would include handguns, sub-machine gun or rifle, entry body armor, helmet, ballistic shield, entry tools, flashlights, communications equipment, and chemical agent mask, as well as athletic shoes for physical training, is required. On Thursday of this class there will be a late night operation in which students should bring their own snacks and hydration. The class will end on the following Friday afternoon, approximately 1330 hours at the completion of the course debriefing.
