Terrorism: Introduction to Terrorism

Course Hours: 8.0 Hours

Course Description

This 8-hour course is designed to provide public safety personnel with an understanding of terrorism. The evolution of terrorism will be discussed from its origins to current state. The objectives, ideological categories, geographical categories, organizational structures, and organizational affiliations will be identified. The planning process and tactics used by terrorist will also be examined. In addition, the radicalization process will be introduced as well as Homegrown Violent Extremist mobilization indicators.

Prerequisites

LAW ENFORCEMENT SENSITIVE. Due to the nature of the course, the following prerequisites must be met: (1) Students must be employed by a local, state or federal public safety agency. (2) Non-law enforcement certified applicants with pending felony charges or convictions are prohibited from attendance. The course coordinator may require production of a criminal history record prior to attendance for non-LEO certified public safety personnel.
