Surviving the Ground Fight: Half Guard
Course Hours: 8.0 Hours
This is part of a series that continues from the initial 24.0 hour Surviving the Ground Fight course. This portion breaks down common grappling positions and highlights effective control techniques for law enforcement officers that may find themselves in a ground fight situation. The half guard position is a defense position that allows the officer to protect themselves while on the ground. This course explores concepts related to proper position, punch blocking, sweeps, and reversals; all leading to a handcuffing position.
Must be employed with a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency. Must provide proof of successful completion of the 24.0 hour Surviving the Ground Fight course or equivalent (syllabus or training curriculum must be submitted for comparison) and submit a current Use of Force certificate (Governor's Initiative).
