Stop the Stigma Symposium

Course Hours: 8.0 Hours

Course Description

Unfortunately, suicide is prevalent in public safety. In the last three years, we have lost more public safety personnel to suicide than in the line of duty. One life lost is one too many. This Stop the Stigma Symposium is to end the stigma associated with depression and suicide in public safety.

In this symposium, we will discuss critical incidents, substance abuse, suicide in public safety, treatment options, peer support, and Georgia Crisis and Access Line.

A panel discussion will offer possible solutions to implementing a peer support team in local agencies. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with panelists during an extended Q & A session.

Together, we can stop the stigma.

Who Should Attend

Public safety personnel from all disciplines, to include command staff from law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, and communications.
