Evidence and Property Room Management
Course Hours: 16.0 Hours
Course Description
This course is designed for those individuals assigned to evidence and property rooms. The student will be given instruction which will assist in avoiding issues such as missing evidence and/or broken chain of custody. By learning best practices for avoiding civil litigation, maintaining records, and disposal of property the student will be prepared to effectively manage property and evidence rooms.
Prerequisites
Officers attending this course should be assigned to, or pending assignment to, the agency's evidence/property room. It would be beneficial for the officer to have previously attended the Crime Scene Technician class and Evidence Presentation class to better understand evidence packaging procedures used in the field.
Who Should Attend
This course is open to public safety personnel currently assigned, or who will be assigned, to their agency's evidence/property room and tasked with maintaining evidence for later presentation in court.
