Gang Investigation and Prosecution Training Course

Course Description

This course is designed for law enforcement officers who will be involved in gang investigations. It is a formal introduction to investigative techniques focusing on trends and organization of street-level gangs, dealers, couriers of illicit drugs, and other criminal enterprises. Topics include the 1998 Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, the RICO Act, case law review, search warrants and affidavit for gang investigations, interview and interrogations, case file management for gang investigations, becoming a gang expert witness, and recognizing available resources for gang investigations. 

Prerequisites

Students attending this course must have successfully completed the three-day Gang Recognition and Identification Training Course. Additionally, students must be sworn law enforcement officers (GA POST Certified), who are currently employed by an authorized public safety agency.

Who Should Attend

Due to course content, this course is limited to sworn law enforcement officers who conduct gang-related criminal investigations.

Students who are unable to download course materials will be given an opportunity to purchase a manual with associated cost through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC).
