Who Should Attend: This course is designed specifically for law enforcement officers; however, public safety personnel from other disciplines may also find the information helpful.

This course provides officers with scenarios in which they can engage with community members to promote positive community relations. Course topics include the SARA Model, controversial incidents effects on law enforcement, community programs, and key practices to build positive community relationships.

Special Notes: This course is approved by POST as a Community Policing elective. Students who successfully complete the course will earn 1 hour of POST credit; however, officers are required to obtain at least 2 hours of Community Policing credit per year. This course alone does not meet that requirement; officers must complete other recognized electives to earn that credit. Failure to attain the minimum required score will result in a failure of the class. Should the student choose to repeat the course, tuition will be charged at the rate of $15 per credit hour. Tuition must be paid before the student will have access to the course.
