Course Hours: 40.0 Hours
This course is designed for patrol and other uniformed personnel who have access to a rifle while on duty. The course focuses on marksmanship skills with a patrol rifle equipped with or without optics. Officers in this course will be shooting a rifle with a sling and shooting from various positions for situations which they may be confronted with while on patrol. Officers will participate in single and multiple target engagement, moving target engagement, decision reaction problems, and handgun transition. The course topics include fundamentals of rifle marksmanship, sighting systems, moving target engagement, rifle safety and maintenance, and use of force.
Who Should Attend
Certified and Sworn Law Enforcement officers assigned a patrol rifle.
.223 and .308 caliber ammunition is provided. If any other calibers are used, officers must bring 750 rounds of duty ammunition. Officers will need to bring a patrol rifle in the condition that it is carried on duty (with or without optics), shooting sling, cleaning gear, and other equipment used in the assignment of a patrol rifle. Rifles should be brought to the class zeroed at a minimum of 50 yards. Zeroes will be checked first day of class however, zeroing time is limited. Officers should also bring a handgun and assigned duty belt. Pistol ammunition (9mm, .40, and .45 ACP) will be provided.
