Course Description

This course is designed to provide the student with the latest theories in verbal communication and situational de-escalation techniques. Topics of instruction include a review of the legal considerations for use of force situations and basic concepts of verbal communication and control. This course provides extensive scenario-based training that allows students an ample opportunity to employ the techniques taught. This course is recognized by POST as equivalent to Verbal Judo and Verbal Deescalation and Influence for purposes of the POST Intermediate Certification.


Students must be employed by a local, state, or federal agency.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for law enforcement officers who have direct contact with the public.

Special Notes

Student must bring duty gear (minus firearm, ammo, OC Spray, Baton, TASER), comfortable clothes, sunscreen, and water bottle.
