Officer Survival: Pistol Tactics

Course Description

This course is designed to provide training necessary to increase the law enforcement officer's ability to apply the basic handgun marksmanship fundamentals during armed encounters from various situations and shooting positions. Topics will include marksmanship fundamentals, shooting while moving, both weapon hand and support hand only operations, shooting from various positions of disadvantage, shooting from and around obstacles, and engaging shoot/no shoot targets while clearing a Live Fire Shoot House.


This course is a follow-up class to the existing 40 hour Officer Survival course.  It does NOT meet POST requirements for the Intermediate certification.

Prerequisites

To attend this course, students must be a Certified and Sworn Law Enforcement Officer.

Who Should Attend

Law enforcement officers desiring to challenge themselves with realistic shooting standards and practical exercises will gain added skills during this training.

Special Notes

Students will need to bring their department-issued duty weapon, duty belt, and any other equipment used on a daily basis, in addition to clothing and gear for inclement weather, and range safety equipment, to include eye and ear protection and a brimmed hat.   Ammunition will be provided in the following calibers: 9mm, 40S&W, and 45ACP.
