SWAT - Basic
Course Hours: 48.0 Hours
Course Description
This course is designed for officers who have recently been assigned to a tactical team and have no prior tactical training. Topics will include building approach & entry techniques, door breaching, diversionary devices, team movement exercises, room clearance, dynamic/covert entry, entry weapon exercises, ballistic shield use, close quarters live fire exercises, and use of chemical agents.
Prerequisites
Must be Certified and Sworn Law Enforcement. Officers will be required to pass the Georgia Semi-Automatic Pistol Qualification Course with a minimum score of 90% on the Sunday prior to class. Officers will meet at 3:00pm at the Firearms Complex the Sunday prior to class. Officers will be required to bring 100 rounds of ammo for the shoot in. No ammunition will be issued out for the shoot in.
Who Should Attend
Law enforcement Officers assigned to a tactical team, S.R.T. or S.W.A.T. team.
Special Notes
Officers should bring with them all clothing and equipment they would have with them during a SWAT operation. This would include handguns, submachine gun or rifle, entry body armor, helmet, ballistic shields, entry tools, flashlights, communication equipment, & chemical agent protective masks. Submachine guns or tactical rifles will be used as a primary weapon system. If a officer does not have a submachine gun or tactical rifle, they should contact the class coordinator prior to class to make arrangements for the use of a GPSTC primary weapon system. Also officers should bring long sleeve tactical clothing as well as personal hydration and snacks. * Special Note Officers Should Bring 100 Rounds of Desired Ammunition To Shoot A Passing Score Of A Minimum of 90% Prerequisite To Remain In SWAT Class*
