Course Hours: 46.0 Hours
This course is designed for officers who have recently been assigned to a tactical team and have no prior tactical training. Topics will include building approach & entry techniques, door breaching, diversionary devices, team movement exercises, room clearance, dynamic/covert entry, entry weapon exercises, ballistic shield use, close quarters live fire exercises, and use of chemical agents.
Must be Certified and Sworn Law Enforcement. On the start of the first day of class, officers will be required to produce a letter from their agency confirming their assignment to a departmental S.R.T. or S.W.A.T. team. Additionally, officers will be required to pass the Georgia Semi-Automatic Pistol Qualification Course with a minimum score of 90% on the first morning of class.
Who Should Attend
Law enforcement Officers assigned to an S.R.T. or S.W.A.T. team.
The training is physical; therefore, those attending should be in good physical condition. Officers should bring with them all clothing & equipment they would have with them during a SWAT operation. This would include handguns, submachine gun or rifle, entry body armor, helmet, ballistic shields, entry tools, flashlights, communication equipment, & chemical agent protective masks. Submachine guns or tactical rifles will be used as a primary weapon system. If a officer does not have a submachine gun or tactical rifle, they should contact the class coordinator prior to class to make arrangements for the use of a GPSTC primary weapon system. Also officers should bring long sleeve tactical clothing as well as personal hydration and snacks.
