Police Motorcycle Officer Techniques Level 2

Course Description

This 32 hour course is designed to enhance the motor officer's riding skills and abilities by utilizing intermediate and advanced motorcycle maneuvers and techniques. The training will include crash avoidance, close quarter maneuvers, and off road negotiation.  This course also addresses utilizing the police motorcycle for cover while engaging potential life-threatening use of force situations.  

Training Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the motor officer will be better prepared for situations they may face during the course of their patrol shift, with an increase of both knowledge and experience.  

Prerequisites

Participants must possess a valid drivers license that includes a motorcycle endorsement, and they must have successfully completed Police Motorcycle Officer Techniques Level 1, or a Basic Motor Officer equivalency course. Students will be required to provide documentation of the completed course. 

Who Should Attend

Officers currently assigned to a motorcycle unit with their agency will benefit from this training.

Special Notes

Officers must bring their agency motorcycle, helmet, gloves, boots that provide ankle support, agency issued duty belt, duty weapon, body armor, and eye and ear protection for techniques used during the tactical motorcycle officer survival skills at the range.  Ear protection must provide protection while wearing a motorcycle helmet.  Students must bring a minimum of 150 rounds of target ammunition for the caliber weapon they are issued, to be used for the motorcycle tactical survival skills course of instruction.
