Police Motorcycle Officer Techniques

Course Description
This course is designed to provide motorcycle officers with formal instruction in the safe operation of motorcycles at various speeds. Emphasis is placed on building officer confidence in close quarter driving situations, balance, throttle control, turning, acceleration, braking, and efficiency in operation.
Prerequisites
Participants must possess a valid driver's license that has a motorcycle endorsement, and should have experience in operating a motorcycle and understand the nomenclature of the motorcycle they will be operating. Applicants must also have a letter from their agency stating that they are either currently assigned to, or are to be assigned to, a police motor unit. Agencies must provide a police motorcycle for each officer and officers must bring with them their helmet, gloves, and boots that provide ankle support.

This course is intended for law enforcement officers who are currently assigned or anticipate assignment to a police motor unit.
