Executive Skills Series: Exercising Leadership to Facilitate Adaptive Change (F521)

Course Description

This course is delivered with curriculum developed by the National Fire Academy. The goal of this course is for the participant to develop an understanding of skills associated with exercising leadership to resolve adaptive problems, those problems where the solution is either unknown or requires significant change, or both.

Prerequisites

Participants must be minimally assigned to supervisory level position, e.g. company officer.

Who Should Attend

The primary target audience is fire and emergency service personnel in positions of authority (executive level officers) who have an opportunity to exercise leadership.

The Student Manual for this course is available to download on your GPSTC Student Dashboard in a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) format, which will function on any electronic device. You may, however, choose to print your own copy or arrange to have one printed by the GPSTC Print Shop at your own expense. 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is in the process of eliminating the use of the Social Security Number (SSN) when applying for FEMA training. To obtain a SID: 1. Register with CTAS at https://cdp.dhs.gov/elms 2. Click on the "Create Account" button on the left side of the screen. 3. Follow the instructions to create your account. 4. Once you have created an account, the account will generate a "business" type card that is printable, print it out and bring it to first day of class. The SID will only be utilized on FEMA Form 119-25-2. Continue to submit SSN on GPSTC Student Authorization Form.
