Technical Rescue: Rope Techniques

Course Hours: 40.0 Hours

Course Description

This course will build on the general job performance requirements first practiced in the Introduction to Technical Rescue (40hr) and Technical Rescue: Core Qualifications (40hr) courses. Then continue to rope specific skills necessary to perform technical rope rescue operations for fire service and other emergency response personnel, using the requirements established by National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1006, Professional Qualifications. Technical Rescue: Rope Techniques will train individuals the knowledge, skills, and duties needed to lead, coordinate and perform as part of a technical rescue team member. Performance testing will evaluate rope rescuer skills as knot passing, ascending and descending, pick-offs and highline operations as well as other skills utilized as part of rope rescue operations.

GFA Technical Rescue: Core Qualification Course

Who Should Attend

Firefighters that are active members of or trying to become members of a Technical Rescue team, and/or that may respond to technical rescue incidents.

Special Notes

Students must provide full Technical Rescue protective clothing to include boots, coat, pants, gloves, helmet, and hood. All clothing and equipment must be in good condition and meet applicable NFPA standards. No shorts or sleeveless shirts may be worn.
