Course Description

This course is designed to improve the officer's proficiency and confidence with a 12 gauge pump or semi-automatic shotgun. Range exercises and classroom instruction will be provided in mounting, loading, unloading, multiple targets, proper use of cover, combat loading, clearing common malfunctions, ammunition exchange, transitioning from shotgun to handgun and other shooting drills. 

Training Outcomes

The officer will have better knowledge, more confidence and operating skills needed when using a shotgun.

Prerequisites

To attend, the student must be a certified and sworn law enforcement officer who is issued a shotgun.

Who Should Attend

Any certified and sworn law enforcement officer who is issued a shotgun would benefit from attending this training.

Special Notes

Officers should bring a 12 gauge pump action or semi-automatic shotgun equipped with a sling, shell carrier(s) for a belt belt, duty belt, holster with retention, handgun, 3 handgun magazines, magazine holder, hearing protection, eye protection, and a hat with a brim.

Shotgun ammunition is supplied in 12 gauge. Handgun ammunition is supplied in 9mm, 40 SW and 45 ACP.
