Shotgun Instructor

Course Description
This course is designed to develop qualified shotgun instructors who can manage and conduct shotgun training programs. The officer will be trained in shotgun techniques, equipment, and accessories. Officers will participate in various shooting drills such as shooting while moving, multiple target engagement, transition from shotgun to secondary weapon, malfunction drills, and a variety of other shooting problems. Subject matter will include: shotguns and their nomenclature, ballistics, capabilities and limitations, shooting positions, fundamentals, instructor liability, safety, and range operation.
Prerequisites
Must be a certified and sworn law enforcement officer. Must be a P.O.S.T. certified Firearms Instructor.
Who Should Attend
Any certified and sworn law enforcement officer that is also a P.O.S.T. certified Firearms Instructor.
Special Notes
Officers should bring a 12 gauge pump action or semi-automatic shotgun equipped with a sling, shotgun shell carriers, duty belt with retention holster, issued handgun, three (3) magazines, eye protection, hearing protection and hat with a brim.
