On-Scene Traffic Accident Investigation Level 2

Course Description

A primary purpose for investigating serious traffic accidents is the determination of how the accident occurred. On-Scene Traffic Accident Investigation Level 2 provides students with the principles of traffic accident reconstruction, focusing on a critical type of evidence: skid marks. By learning how to properly collect and interpret this on-scene evidence, students will be able to accurately determine key facts like vehicle speeds, vehicle-to-roadway relationships, and vehicle-to-vehicle relationships. 

Prerequisites

Students interested in attending On-Scene Traffic Accident Investigation Level 2 must first successfully complete On-Scene Traffic Accident Investigation Level 1.

Who Should Attend

This course is open to city, county, and state public safety personnel who have completed On-Scene Traffic Accident Investigation Level 1. Others wishing to attend must have the approval of the course coordinator and the Director of the Law Enforcement Operations and Investigations Section.

Special Notes

Students attending this course must bring the following items to class: IPTM Traffic Template, flex curve, bow compass, notebook paper, and a TI-30Xa scientific calculator.  Printed material will not be issued in class. Students must print class materials to be allowed to attend.
