Judgmental Use of Force
Course Hours: 24.0 Hours
Course Description
This course uses an integrated system of video, laser, computer technology and live fire to place the officer in situations where the officer's judgment will be evaluated. This evaluation will be based on use of force statutes and case law so that officer's actions during use of force is within the confines of the law. Officers will interact in simulated scenarios requiring judgment and decision making regarding the drawing of a weapon and the use of force.
Training Outcomes
The desired outcome for each officer is to become knowledgeable of use of force statutes and case law that governs the use of force. After completing this course, officers will have enhanced their judgmental/decision making abilities so when interacting with citizens and use of force is deemed necessary, a correct decision will be made based on statutory law, along with case law, so that the officers use of force is within the confines of the law.
Prerequisites
Must be Certified and Sworn Law Enforcement.
Who Should Attend
Any local, state or federal law enforcement officer.
Special Notes
Officers need to bring appropriate clothing for the season and their own duty weapons and duty gear.
