Drug Identification Course
Course Hours: 40.0 Hours
This program centers around the recognition of narcotics, controlled substances, and prescription drugs commonly manufactured, sold, possessed and used in violation of federal and state laws. Topics include: drugs and symptoms of abuse, clandestine drug manufacturing laboratories, "rave" and club drugs, prescription drugs, "pill mills," and marijuana growing operations. This course focuses on the substances and their identity and methods of manufacture.
Who Should Attend
This course is intended for certified peace officers and prosecutors.
This is a very intense one-week course intended to familiarize students with the various types of drugs used illegally. This course no longer includes the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Marijuana Certified Examiners Certification. For more information regarding the Marijuana Certified Examiners Certification course, check the course catalog. Participants should download the course materials prior to the beginning of the course. The materials are extensive and it is permissible to save the manual to an electronic device to use during the course. Students who wish will have the opportunity to purchase a printed copy of the manual on the first day of the course.
