Coroner, Basic

Course Description
This course is designed for newly elected or appointed coroners and deputy coroners. The basic course includes discussion on Official Code of Georgia Title 45, death investigation, reports, ethics and professionalism, photography, child death investigations, and reporting procedures to the state Medical Examiner's Office.
Prerequisites
Anyone attending a coroner's basic or in-service course, other than a coroner, coroner-elect, appointed coroner, or deputy coroner, must have written permission from the coroner of the county of residence.
Special Notes
This course is required for certification by the Georgia Coroners Training Council. The fee for this course is $600.00 and should be paid prior to attending this course. Payment may be made by check or credit card. Checks should be made payable to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Students should download and print the student manual prior to attending class. The student manual should be brought to class each day.
