Fire Department Executive
Course Hours: 40.0 Hours
The purpose of this course is to provide Georgia chief officers with the skills necessary to successfully manage and lead their departments in a diverse and changing environment. The course will develop a chief officer's skills in executive functions of the fire department in dealing with human resources, professional development, government & community relations, strategic planning, purchasing, training, risk management, and emergency scene operations. This course will meet Thursday each week for five weeks.
Students must have successfully complete the Fire Administrative Officer course offered by GPSTC or possess NPQ Pro Board Fire Officer III certification.
Who Should Attend
Chief Officers or those who have completed the previous Fire Officer course offerings.
A strategic planning project will be required and due back within 60 days of the last day of class. Failure to complete the project will result in a withdrawal from the course.
