Georgia Fire Inspector Level I Module 1

Course Description

This course is the first of a two part course designed to prepare students to successfully perform fire inspector duties and to successfully obtain the State Fire Inspector Certification. This course introduces the potential fire inspector to the core basics of fire inspections. Topics such as communications, fire behavior, building construction, occupancy classification and others will be discussed. Students will be issued a task book and participant guide on the first day of the course; these items as well as an "end of course" project must be completed to receive credit for this course.


Students must complete the following prior to attending this course (Students must provide copies of certification on first day of class): 1. ICS -100 Introduction to ICS 2. ICS-200 Basic ICS 3. ICS-700 An Introduction to the National Incident Management System.

Who Should Attend

Firefighters and Fire Prevention personnel aspiring to become certified as a State Certified Fire Inspector or National Professional Qualification Fire Inspector I. Student selection priority will be given to students already working in or receiving assignment to a Fire Prevention Bureau.

Special Notes

This course is Course Coordinator managed. All applicants will initially be placed on a Waiting List. Approximately 30 days prior to the start date, attendees will be selected based on date of application submission, provided that they meet the prerequisites listed above. Any applicants who meet the prerequisites but are not accepted into the course will be notified to reapply for a future offering. Any applicants who do not meet the prerequisites, or exceed the two attendees per-department maximum, will be rejected and must reapply for a future offering. This course utilizes the educational website entitled Edmodo. All pertinent course information and resources will be available via Edmodo. The Course Coordinator will provide instructions and logon information to access this site via email. This site will provide the student with additional information, references, syllabus, PowerPoints and the Participant Guide.
