Technical Rescue: Introduction to Technical Rescue Skills Challenge
Course Hours: 8.0 Hours
Candidates that have technical rescue experience can challenge the full 48-hr "Introduction to Technical Rescue" course. This 8 hour evaluation is a measurement of fundamental technical rescue skills. Given twelve (12) performance skills and a written test, the student must complete and pass all evaluation check-offs to demonstrate a proficiency of skills as stated in "Introduction to Technical Rescue" course objectives, hosted by the Georgia Fire Academy. The criteria for the performance skills sheets are available for download on the GFA website at: http://gfa.gpstc.georgia.gov.
First Aid, CPR, First Responder, NIMS 700, and NIMS 100.
Who Should Attend
Any firefighter involved in Technical Rescue with fundamental skills that would like to challenge the full 48-hr Introduction to Technical Rescue course.
The 8 hours associated with this evaluation are not approved as continuing education credits and will not be eligible for recertification hours with GFSTC. Each student is responsible for the following mandatory personal protective equipment suitable for technical rescue operations: helmet, Class III harness, gloves suitable for rope work, and rugged footwear.
