Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)

Course Hours: 16.0 Hours

Course Description

ARIDE is a 16 hour course of study designed to enhance law enforcement officers' abilities to recognize the role of traffic enforcement and its relationship to highway safety. Officers will be trained to recognize psychophysical and clinical indicators of impairment that are consistent with a subject who is under the influence of drugs alone, or in combination with alcohol, and to take appropriate action. A strong emphasis will be placed on the proper administration of the NHTSA SFST battery and interpretation of the results.

Prerequisites

In order to attend ARIDE, students must first successfully complete the 24-hour DUI/Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course.

Officers who are tasked with traffic enforcement duties would benefit from the training offered in this course.
