Incident Command for Highrise Operations

Course Hours: 12.0 Hours

Course Description

This 2-day course is designed to assist emergency response officers who have responsibility for managing highrise incidents. This includes organizing resources, developing strategies, and managing tactical operations to protect life and to minimize damage during an incident. Students attending should have a working knowledge of basic Incident Command System organization; working knowledge of strategy and tactics for structural firefighting; knowledge of building construction; and understanding of the type of building systems existing in highrise buildings.

Who Should Attend

Recommended: Anyone who would serve as a company officer/chief officer in communities that have highrise buildings.

Special Notes

The National Fire Academy does not utilize Social Security Numbers on their registration form; this form is in addition to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center application process. The National Fire Academy has transitioned to an online admissions application process and the online application can be found at (you may need to press Ctrl with your cursor over the link):

The online application will open the day before the class and be open fourteen days after the class concludes.  Failure to turn in an application will result in not receiving credit for the course.
 
To obtain a SID: 

1. Register at https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid

2. Select "Need a FEMA SID?" on the right side of the screen. 

3. Follow the instructions to create your account. 

4. You will receive an email with your SID. Save this number in a secure location. Use the SID in place of the SSN.
