Course Description
This course is designed for all public safety personnel interested in improving his or her physical condition to better meet the challenges of field work. The course builds on the principles of cardiovascular fitness, strength training and flexibility. Through a combination of fitness training and short lectures, the student will learn a sensible and reasonable strategy for increasing strength and endurance while decreasing potential for on-the-job injuries. Activities are tailored to your profession and your current level of fitness.
Training Outcomes
To provide a comprehensive fitness program that incorporates the basic fundamentals of traditional and "functional" fitness for the Public Safety Officer.
Prerequisites
Must be current public safety officer.
Who Should Attend
Any local, state, or federal public safety officer (police, fire, EMS).
Special Notes
Each student must have a copy of the student manual below with them on Day One of class or they will not be able to participate in the course. Students should also bring several changes of comfortable work-out clothes, cross-trainer athletic shoes, and a personal water bottle. This course is approved by DHR for 40 hours of EMS recertification credit.
