Defensive Tactics Instructor

Course Description
Designed for the POST certified General Instructor, this training provides the instructional techniques required to teach control and restraint techniques, handgun retention and disarming skills, handcuffing and searching, active countermeasures, OC deployment, Expandable Metal Baton, and other self defense techniques against common attacks.
Prerequisites
Submit a copy of your POST Instructor Training certification, a copy of your basic Defensive Tactics certificate (completed within the last 24 months), proof of completion of the Use of Force and De-Escalation Options offered online by GPSTC (completed within the last 12 months), and a medical waiver (found below) for the PT Test and Oleoresin Capsicum exposure.
Who Should Attend
Law enforcement officers who have been given the assignment to instruct fellow LE officers in the use of defensive tactics.
Special Notes
This class certifies the student to teach Defensive Tactics, Expandable Baton Basic, as well as Oleoresin Capsicum Familiarization. Students must bring their duty belt (no weapon), handcuffs with key, baton with holder, mouth guard, jock strap with cup, non-marking court shoes and personal body armor. A towel, change of clothes, and personal care items will be the responsibility of the student during OC exposure.
