Multidisciplinary Teams - Response to Sexual Assault

Course Description

Sexual Assault Response Teams are a multidisciplinary team that provides specialized immediate response to victims of recent sexual assault by implementing a comprehensive, sensitive, coordinated system of intervention and care for sexual assault victims. The team typically includes victim advocates, health care personnel, law enforcement representatives, and prosecutors. Student teams will work together to investigate, collect evidence, conduct interviews, and correctly document multiple scenarios. This course will allow officers to work closely with the multidisciplinary team throughout the week culminating with direct and cross examination by instructor attorneys to further prepare investigators and SANE nurses for future case work.



Prerequisites

Law enforcement officers must be assigned or preparing for assignment to a position associated with the criminal investigation of sexual assault.
