Executive Skills Series: Exercising Leadership Ethically

Course Hours: 16.0 Hours

Course Description

This 16 hour course provides a developmental educational experience for those in positions of authority who regularly must make decisions, specifically when the choice of decisions is difficult because of gray areas which separate the issue in question from right or wrong. The scope of the course involves challenges that may involve risk, and there may be "casualties." This course is about how to act, behave or decide where there is no content clarity, legal precedent or procedural guidance.

Who Should Attend

The target audience for all of the Executive Skills Series courses consists of fire and emergency service personnel in positions of authority who have an opportunity to exercise leadership. The students must, minimally, be assigned to a supervisory level position (e.g., a Company Officer (CO).

Special Notes

Special Notes: The National Fire Academy does not utilize Social Security Numbers on their registration form; this form is in addition to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center application process. The NFA form will be completed on the first day of the course. Students must provide the Student Identification Number on the first day of the course. What this means to you: This number is used in place of a Social Security Number and is obtained through the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). Applications for NFA courses that do not include a SID will not be processed, failure to provide the SID will result in the student not receiving credit for the course. To obtain a SID: 1. Register at https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid 2. Select "Need a FEMA SID?" on the right side of the screen. 3. Follow the instructions to create your account. 4. You will receive an email with your SID. Save this number in a secure location. Use the SID in place of the SSN on the General Admissions Application Form (FEMA Form 119-25-1) and General Admissions Application Short Form (FEMA Form 119-25-2).
