Fostering Positive Community Relations

Course Hours: 3.0 Hours

Course Description

Based on recent scrutiny placed on law enforcement from the public and the media, this course will provide students with an understanding of the importance of positive community relations. Course topics include the history of policing in America, police legitimacy, perceptions, prejudices, and biases, procedural justice, contemporary policing concepts, and community policing. Students will view two videos along with completing a series of activities. Applicants who complete this online module will receive three (3) hours of POST training credit.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for law enforcement. However, public safety personnel from all disciplines may find the information helps them better serve their communities.

Special Notes

This course qualifies for POST credit as a Community Policing elective.
