Course Description

The course will educate officers on the forensic interview and its role in a comprehensive investigation involving child victims or child witnesses to crimes. Training topics include child advocacy centers and the multi-disciplinary team, an overview of the forensic interview, conducting minimal facts interviews, how children experience and disclose abuse, corroborating the forensic interview, and testifying in court regarding your investigation.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites, but attending the Child Victim Investigation Fundamentals course offered at GPSTC is recommended.

This course is designed for law enforcement officers assigned to a criminal investigations division and tasked with responding to child maltreatment reports.
