Bloodstain Pattern Analysis

Course Hours: 40.0 Hours

Course Description

This course is designed for personnel who investigate violent crimes. Topics include recognition and creation of basic stain patterns, area of origin determinations, correlations of bloodstain pattern analysis with other forensic evidence, and documenting bloodstain patterns. Instructors at the National Forensic Academy facilitate this training.

Prerequisites

Students must register online with University of Tennessee LEIC, prior to registering with GPSTC. LEIC registration is located at https://leic.tennessee.edu/home/training/registration/. Students should have completed Crime Scene Investigations or have equitable knowledge of the topics taught in the course.

Who Should Attend

Investigators who are assigned to investigate violent crimes in which bloodstain evidence may be created should attend.

Special Notes

 Practical exercises may be conducted outside. Therefore, students should wear or bring climate-appropriate clothing and rain gear.
