Basic Volunteer Firefighter with Live Fire

Course Description
The Basic Volunteer Firefighter with Live Fire course is a 95 hour course developed to address a portion of the new fire-related performance objectives in NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, 2013 edition. The course content also reflects the specific pre-requisite basic training knowledge, skills and abilities that shall be completed before participating in any live fire training evolutions that are addressed in NFPA 1403, Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions, 2018 edition.
Prerequisites
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and hold membership in a compliant Georgia Fire Department.
Who Should Attend
This is the course for new volunteer firefighters. Any individual meeting the prerequisites who wishes to obtain the minimum level of training for active volunteer service within a compliant Georgia Volunteer Fire Department may attend.
Special Notes
Class Manual: Currently the course manual used is the IFSTA 6th Edition: Essentials of Firefighting & Fire Department Operations. Each student must provide a manual and its study guide for use during the program. The student manual follows the classroom power point presentation.
