Semi-Automatic Pistol Level 1

Course Description

This course is the first of four advanced pistol courses. It is designed to enhance a shooter's skill level above the basic shooting fundamentals. This course emphasizes and advances the fundamentals of shooting, efficient use, and maintenance of a semi-automatic pistol.

Training Outcomes

At the end of this course, the officer will be more proficient in the drawing of a handgun, presentation of a handgun, target acquisition, reloading, multiple target engagement, and improved general use of their duty weapon.


Prerequisites

Students must be certified and sworn law enforcement officers.

Training Officers NOTE:  This course should not be considered an alternative to departmental remedial training.  To successfully complete this course, students should consistently achieve a passing score on the state mandated qualification course (SQC) prior to attending this training.  

It is recommended, but not required, that students attend and complete the GPSTC course Pistol Fundamentals prior to attending this training.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for certified and sworn law enforcement officers with the ability to regularly achieve a passing score on the Georgia State mandated Qualification Course (SQC), and seek to improve their semi-automatic pistol handling skills.



Special Notes

Students should bring their issued semi-automatic pistol, agency-issued duty holster with retention, three (3) magazines, and magazine pouch.  Students will also need hearing protection, eye protection and a hat with a brim.  Ammunition will be provided in 9mm, .40, and .45 ACP calibers.
